Hi
Live in Ohio and have a 9N built in 1939 (if I decoded the VIN correctly). Have been looking at this site to get some ideas on how to diagnose the issue with 9N not starting.
Some context: I was plowing snow at the end of the driveway and a truck went by an doused me and the tractor in wet slush; slush hit the right side of the tractor. A few seconds later the tractor died. May just be coincidence, but who knows. Turns over great doesn't want to fire. Looked at the "50 tips" and #13. So far this is what I have done:
1). Verified that loosening the carb bolt on the bottom produces a stream of gas
2). Using a circuit tester, verified that there is power to the wire on top of the coil
3). Ordered a tune up kit with 437 plugs and points-which will have to wait til the weekend for installation if they come prior to then.
4). Once received I will try gapping an old plug and see if I'm getting spark
Any other suggestions to try at this point would be most appreciated. It's snowing and snowing and snowing......
Regards,
Vimce
