[b:82c94ccf48]Again sorry to bother but worked 12 hours today and am in rush mode to order some parts. Basically all the braided wires which run through the conduit to generator to key switch etc is gone dry rotted and naked wires everywhere. There's one her for sale $17 for 1949 8N 2 wire generator front mount distributor. I'm pretty sure it will work. They have a good return policy so I figure I'll order it as customer service is closed(weekend). Other than my uncle leaving switch on and burning up points I'm surprised this tractor ran at all.[/b:82c94ccf48]

Dont forget the spark plug wires and Battery
cables.

Google " wiring diagrams JMOR" and find the
one that fits your tractor.

Removing the air cleaner will make rewiring
it easier.

[b:16afddba58]Thanks yea the kit I already ordered and received has plug wire, distributor cap, rotor button, points, coil. Just went to barn after work today after pressure washing yesterday and realized how bad of shape the wire harness was in figured I'd just replace as I'll have all plug wires off and several wires run through conduit same as plug wires. Gonna start tomorrow at 5pm after 12 shift. I know its January but I'm itching to help my 78 year old uncle out who has been like a father to me since my dad passed in 2002. [/b:16afddba58]

rw3al3..........when I repaced the wiring harness in my eazy starting 6-volt 8N, I had my 9-yo son do it. (supervised of course) Modern thermoplastic wires are so much better than them old cloth covered rubber ones. 2nd tip: don't try to fish enny of them wires down the tube. Ain't needed. 3rd tip: While YT catters to the old tractor crowd, make certain yer sparkie wires are COPPER core NOT modern string sparkie wires like yer BelchFire-V8 uses. While the weird 4-nipple dizzy is designed to have the points (0.015) replaced on the kitchen table, I always clamp the corner of $1-bill (cheep) between the points and pull. Polishes the INVISIBLE CORROSION from between the points fer HOTTER more certain sparkies. Bruce haz given you the NAPA numbers fer the BlueStreak points. (the good kind) And finally, many neubie tractor owners are confuzed by the SLOW rumpa-rumpa of yer 6-volt positive (+) ground vs the whirr of yer 12-volt negative (-) ground BelchFire-V8. Donna worry, pos (+) or neg (-) yer starter motor always turns the correct direction fer yer engine, just faster with 12-volts. Oh yeah, keep yer itchy-twitchy fingers off'n them handy-dandy carbie tweek'um, they aintchur problem as described. Howsomevers, iff'n ya did tweek'um, fess up and we'll tell you how to do 'em rite. (no extra charge, eh?) .......HTH, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister Dell
