MM 5 star question

Met a fellow at a show this weekend. Says he bought a 1957 5 star , stuck motor. Doesn't have time to fool with it. Wants $300. About and hour away. Tires hold air but ain't great. He doesn't text so he will have his son send pictures this week. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Stuck from sitting. Guy who has it got it few months ago. Says soaking in ATF hasn't helped. How hard to take off head and pan and get pistons out? Worth doing? Unusual tractor in Al.

Heads are easy don't know about pan. On my diesel looks like quite a project.

Grandpa, I'll get beat up for this but, I'd walk away. You are relatively new to the MM scenes and as such, we want you to be thrilled with MM tractors. This is just personal opinion mind you but I don't think a 5 star will endear you to MM. That tractor is in a class of neither small or large. It's a bit clumsy, takes up a lot of space, the seating arrangement is poor which makes it uncomfortable. If you have need or use of a tractor of its size, weight and power, then OK but if you just like to putt around, I would not recommend it.

Hey Curt, my wife says thank you for your honesty! The fellow who owns the tractor said he is going to haul it to a scrap yard........but it's a tractor salvage yard. So parts will go to folks who need them. I get excited about a " deal". Lol

Stick the big thing there is it because it got water in the cylinders if it did not likely to free up unless one can get ALL the water out of the cylinders so the ATF can do its job. Even then if the water has been there long a tire down is likely

I agree with Curt, but I would buy it for only $300. You don’t have to keep it, just clean it up alittle and resale it and buy something you can use. A lot of pullers are looking for 5 stars, you won’t have any problems selling it for a nice profit.
