Minni u clutch

I am not familiar with this MM "U". The tractor jumps when engaging the clutch,(lever just about all the way forward) Hoping one of you MM boys could give me some advice on how to adjust the clutch. It is a "U" wide front, that's all I know. I also know they were very good tractors.

You have two things going on. The fiber disc is glazed and the small springs that hold the discs apart are smashed. If working properly a u had a very smooth clutch. I have one that acts like what you describe. You can get used to it if you have the desire. I think you can purchase a segmented disc and working through the access marketplace it and possibly the springs but you're going to have to get someone more knowledgeable than me to tell you that part for sure.

THe twin disc clutch is ajustable. Go through the hand hole there is a pin that releases collar to tighten or loosen clutch. Maybe rusted up so back off clutch and let it slip then readjust. They are a rock solid clutch setup.

Thanks for your in put, much appreciated

jr; you hit the nail on the head, the springs are weak and fatigued. Any time we had a hand clutch apart we always replaced the small compression springs. It allows the cushion control with the hand on the clutch that you need. Without that the clutch grabs, you react in the opposet direction then the other and it just magnifies.
Glazed or oil on the clutch can also be a problem. In some cases you can put in high gear step on the brakes and burn the clutch to help.
Many times you can have better control if you place your hand halfway or more down the clutch lever to engage the clutch.
