Another Minnie on Film

Found a Minnie in another film. Got in late from the field the other night. while i was eating supper. Was watching A PBS station when this Documentary came on. about how the civilians in our part of the country aided the WWII effort. It was basically about all the industries in Chicago and surrounding area serving for the war effort. The MM "UTS" in the film looks like it might be pulling a pickup conveyor loading pea vines for Del-Monte in the Rochelle area. which makes a lot of sense since they used all MM tractors. the only other tractors in the film were IHC tractors that looks like they are coming out of the IHC factory in Chicago. The U is very early in the film, so if you don't want to watch it all no problem. However it is very interesting and is spot on as I remember how things were at that time when i was a kid, we did all that it portrays. Search "A City at War Chicago" you will find it a PBS presentation. When it comes up it will only be a preview. You will have to click on watch full video. The U is only shown in the blink of a eye. So to really see it you have to stop the video, back up an stop the video as soon as it appears, to get a good look.

MMDEL what you posted makes sense. Del Monte was its own MM dealer, and used a lot of them. There were Plants at DeKalb, Rochelle, and Mendota.

They used Farmall Ms to mow peas. They would put a mower on the back and mow in reverse. It would leave the peas in a windrow. In the 60s they used some Case self propelled windrowers.

That is an interesting video in itself and seeing the MM tractors working in the pea fields makes it a fabulous example of the history of MM tractors. Thanks for the suggestion of the Del Monte History video.
