I bought a G 706 and it has no vents on top of valve covers but the holes are in the hood is this normal or has there been a modification?

Some did not have the breathers on valve covers. They had a tube run between covers and to a " blowby" tube. Don't know why, just know it was done

Probably modified to vent to the intake. I asked the same question a while back and MMGB explained it. Here is how mine looks without the hood vents.

At time motor probably was weak and had blowby. It would blow right into your face. Seen several different setups.

(quoted from post at 15:29:30 04/14/18) Do you have the holes in the hood?

Yes, the hood has breather holes. The parts book shows breathers but the recirculating setup on mine looks like factory paint.

I've seen them your way. Don't know why there were different setups. My 705 came this way. Only one I've seen.

Did MM possibly offer an update to a positive crankcase ventilation system on them like some of the later tractors?
