What's power pack for on G1000?

What's the power pack for behind the dash on the G1000? The gauge lights run through it. Red wire from light switch goes into it and a black wire comes out that goes to light on each of the gauges. I have power to it but not coming out of it. Gauge lights were working and I was jiggling around in there and now no gauge lights. Can that thing be bypassed? Thanks

Does it say Wico on it? MF used a Wico transformer for the gauge green background lighting. Looked nice when it worked, but don't think the special gauges that used it are available anymore. Gauges are subbed to ones that use bulb towers now.

Electroluminescence lighting. Was banned in mid 60's. Uses high voltage to run plates in gauges. Can't be bypassed just eleminated. Gauges have to be changed to regular 12v. Have some power supplies if needed.

I think it does say wico on it. I'd like to replace it if someone had one laying around. I really don't want to replace working gauges just because the light doesn't light up. That green glow was kinda neat, and that explains why I couldn't get the light in the new temp gauge to work.

I don?t think the whole system was banned but rather the ?tar? inside the transformer contained PCB,s like early flourescent light ballasts. I suspect they quit using the system because it was overly complicated and expensive to maintain compared to standard lights.

Before you go replacing it you should check to make sure it's grounded. You said it did work and you were in there messing around, seems slightly unlikely that just bumping it or something would have made it go bad. You may have loosened it up some and now it doesn't have a good ground.
Also, I noticed on ours that it seemed like it took a second for the lights to actually come on once you turned the switch on.

It's a high voltage transformer. You can't light up standard 12v gauge lights with it. It will likely burn something up if you try.

I don't see anything else that would be grounded. The gauges seem to ground against the dash and I never touched the power pack, but if I'm missing a ground wire I'm just not seeing it.

Well I'm sure that power pack is the problem and finding one will be impossible so I have an led license plate light I'm gonna mount over the gauges cause I'm not replacing working gauges just because the lights don't work. It's a shame because the green glow is really good looking.
