Hour Meter on 670

Iv got a major oil leak coming out of the nut for the hour meter cable on the block. How do you take that apart to replace what I'm assuming is a o ring in there. Can't find a breakdown of that area in my manuals.

Looks like the cable screws off an adaptor in the block.....then the adaptor screws out and the seal is inside.

That the 90 degree piece of white metal? Not available that I am aware of. Has a worm gear
inside. The end pops out when they go bad which was often. It is matched to your tach

Tach still works just got oil running out of it. Tightened it up some but it didn't help. I also loosened cable nut and tried to pull it from block but seems like something is binding it still don't want to make this thing a bigger project than it needs to be. Always thought the cable had a square end on it that just slipped into an adapter and you could easily pull it apart.

It's a super correct? Tach cable is triange shaped and will pull out of the oil pump drive. May require a pliers, side cutter, and new cable. The drive then will unscrew. Haven't gotten into one further than that ever. Really should not be oil pressure on it though to leak thinking about it.

Yup it's a super diesel. Tho it does seem to not pour out as noiticable the hotter the temp gets.

Found the culprit...aluminum nut that goes on adapter has a hairline crack 90% of the way around it so it's looking like I'm gonna have to find a cable somewhere.

J.A.R try your local agco dealer they just might surprise you. or I could come down and pick up the 670 and bring it home here I might have one here that fits, of course it may take a few months to get it changed out, and then a few months of testing  and of course i'll bring it back

Lol ya swing down here pick her up...ill call the local dealer and see if they can get it. Thanks again

Carvel, called Welters and they can get em from Agco new..kinda surprising lol and it's only 35 bucks.

is that the new cable you ordered from agco? maybe have to take it back or try recrimping it? that's an odd one for sure, I haven't ever seen a cable leak, usually the fittings.

Unscrew the tach drive from the crankcase. There is a very small seal inside it, which seals the adapter to the oil pump shaft. It is shown in the parts books. I can get the national number tomorrow. I just put one in my 670 super diesel a few days ago.

ChrisQ is it an actual seal or just a rubber o ring? And if so id really appreciate the number when ya get a chance
Don't wanna tear it down yet until this snowstorm passes gonna need it to plow snow. Thanks

It is a mini rubber seal. I believe 1/2" ID 5/8" OD. National number is 342805. O'Reilly's was able to get it out of their warehouse same day. I think it is the same as a shift shaft seal on some automatic transmissions. Only about a couple bucks.
