What model MM

What model MM would be be sized and purposed similar to a Ford 3000, MF240, Oliver 550? I want to pull 2x14 plow, 6ft disk and
5ft brush cutter. Need 3pt hitch. It would be nice if it had a live PTO, but not essential. I don't need power steering.
I want that classic MM 4 cylinder gas engine with bolt on cylinders and "3 pound rocker arms". Maybe the 445 utility with 28" rear wheels?

A 335 would work, but get a 445 utility, a little more power stronger front end, and easier to find. Probably same price or less. 335 are a little scarce.

Delbert is rite , plus if you need any used parts , The 445 will be easier than the 335 to get parts for. Same basic engine , but the rear ends have some differences. clint

Found a 4-Star 240 miles away for sale. My only prior Min-Mo experience is the ZB model.
That ZB engine is what I was thinking of- blind bored cylinders long rocker arms...pretty different from the 445 or 4 star.
I assume the OHV 4 Star engine is better on fuel than the "flat head" ZB.

Is there any good read about the engineering of the Minneaplois-Moline tractors?

Z, ZA, ZB is the fore runner of the 445, Jet, & 4Star. Same basic crankcase, but the blocks and heads were updated to valve in head arrangement. A 4Star tractor is a handy fun tractor to drive.
