good morning gb. just got off the phone with sw. and part stop where I actually got the paint (sw won't sell direct to customer) only to distributors. price was around $200.00/gallon for paint, reducer and hardner another $150. but they need the paint code for the 39 pg1. if you send me that I can get a firm price for you.

(quoted from post at 12:14:41 03/16/18) There is no paint code for early ones. Was whatever was mixed in pail that day.
gb. kevin moschenrose on the forum here works for sw. and has the paint codes for those pg1, 2 and 3. give him a sout and he'll get them for you.

I've bought directly off SW automotive. Never had a problem. Every PG gallon I bought was under $100. + reducer/hardener.

There is a code for PG1.

To answer your question about PG1, it is considered the holy grail of MM colors, very few collectors use it and very very very very few even agree on it.

So when it comes to early MM tractors the sky is the limit and the shade of PG1 could be like GB said what ever was mixed in the bucket that day, no one really knows.

Now for my opinion, again we all have opinions and they all stink, my opinion is that the MMCI (Minneapolis-Moline Collectors, Inc) has a paint committee, they spent many hours if not years going over many old stock parts and old Touch up paint cans that were found. I have a lot of respect for that committee, for there were many people on that committee I ask for help from all the time.

I have used and will continue to use the adopted PG#1 color that the paint committee agreed on and it does look like several of the old stock parts and in areas where the sun didn't get it, it does looks spot on to me, once you take a photograph of it, like most paint, it never looks right.

The PG#1 I used was developed from an New Old Stock can of touch up paint that Dave R. was in possession of. I have seen pictures of this said can with the part number on it.

Kevin M. "Mushy" works for SW and he helped me out a great deal, he is on this forum and he can get you the paint code they mix based on the MMCI paint Committees recommendations for PG#1.

About 2 years ago I went through this same process with the same crazy non agreement on colors, you can look this up in the archive on this forum.

Again, no one will ever agree on a color for PG#1 since anyone who actually mixed it and knew back in the day all the secret herbs and spices are long gone.

If you want to paint it John Deere yellow, Cat yellow, Safety yellow, straw yellow, mustard yellow, School bus yellow, astrobrite yellow, federal yellow or baby diaper drippings yellow, it really doesn't matter. It only maters if you like it and it is to your specs for your idea of PG#1, just be prepared for the potential ridicule you may get for painting it your color. ( I get it all the time when I bring my MMCI Adopted PG# 1 color painted U to a show)

My SW AIC store mixed me my paint, PG#1 and Cherry Red with reducer and hardener for less that $140.

Send me a picture of finished product' Only seen 1 I thought was close. All seem to have
orange tinge or too yellow.
