good evening MNGB, you where right they are char-lynn valves on the m5. a couple of pics after I got the hyd tank, rotten hoses out and the mess cleaned up. if you remember the 2 brackets I found down in all the muck, well I found out why he didn't put them back!! they are a proper b***h to put in with the tank and everything out of the way. the valves where fopping all over with out them so installed the 1 good one on the right valve but now I need on for the left side. do you know where I would start looking for that bracket? will be checking with the hyd. shop i'm taking all the rotten hoses and lines to for replacement.

Checked 5-M5's. All Grescen Must have used Charlyn in the first generation. Are both
yours early versions. Know my red decaled one has old 5 Star Tele-Flo setup. Had a 5 Star
standard and it had been converted to Grescen also.

good evening gb. i'm not 100% sure they are early 1st editions, they are both 1961 according to the serial #'s the one i'm working on is # 17102202 and the other one still to be done is # 17102242. both where ordered and delivered to a farmer just north of elk island park east of the city.

Hi minne farmer you got that cleaned up and looking good checked your other post and seen the priming etc. So were the parts needed for your tractor or were they replacements I can't tell from the picture I guess after reading again you installed them and it was a fun job?? I've had a few jobs like that a time or two I'm following your progress

MNGB the part I need is that bottom bracket that hold the bottom of the valve in place for the left valve, if you recall I found 2 in all the muck when I was cleaning up that the original owner had worked on the valves or replaced hoses? and broke one and never reinstalled the other, so when I got the tank out and cleaned every thing up I saw I have char lynn valves like you and bob said, so the 1 good bracket I had I reinstalled (not a fun place to work  ) but I still need one for the left valve.

Looking good!
Don't know if you are aware of this, but after you slide that end bracket into place, put a small piece of wire into that small vertical hole on the left side to lock it in place.

rich I put a 1/4" bolt through the bracket and through the hole in the front panel? but I don't see any where to put a locking wire?

rich just spotted the locking wire grove! :D

Good morning carvel minne farmer, do you think the machine shop could weld the broken part or are pieces missing, otherwise I thing a bracket could be fabricated to hold wouldn't be OEM but no one can see anyway just thinking

(quoted from post at 10:04:27 03/15/18) Have source for most parts. Know of wrecker that has M5. Imagine time/ cost to remove.
thank you gb, we have westlock tractor parts about an hour north of me, i'm sure they have an m5 in the yard, will check with them but still under 2 ft. snow up there. talked to psi fluid power this morning and they are the char-lynn dealer here. gave them the #'s off the valve body and sent them pics of everything, fingers crossed might get lucky

As nice as you are putting that tractor back together you might want to consider changing out those valves while you got it all apart. Me thinks when you get it all said and done those Char-lyn Valves are going to leak and mess everything up for you.
MMDEL

MMDEL when I got the tank out and the hoses and remote couplers out the only leaks I could find where on the hoses to the remotes (rotten and original I think) and the 90 degree hose under tank, but both valves are dry and show no signs of leaking. I called westlock tractor parts and they have an m5 there with 2 char-lynn valves in it, they want $150.00 each? now my question MMDEL is what valve would you replace those with and will they work with the current lever system?

(quoted from post at 06:14:36 03/16/18) Have Grescens here that will bolt right in. Easily rebuilt. Think you can buy new for 200$
anywere.
i'm sleeping here thid morning gb., do you happen to have the model and part #'s handy? thanks gb.

Looks like MOLINEGB already answered your question. I only have time to get on here once a day in the mornings. So just saw your post. Good Luck!!
