G1000 is running

Finally got back to working on priming the G1000 yesterday. Drained the old fuel out- only had 12 gal in it-, blew out the line, and put 30 gal fresh fuel in it. Started spraying fuel out of the lines after only a couple seconds of cranking. Tightened the lines and it fired right up. Runs like a champ. Today I have to braze two small cracks on top of the radiator tank and I can move on to the job of mounting the loader on it. I should have checked earlier but I found out it didn't have thermostats in it. What size radiator cap should it have? it has a 9# on it now. I thought I'd start new with that too, but I'm a little paranoid that that might not be the right one. I have a new 13# one but would that be to much? I'll post pics of it as soon as I back it out of the shop, hopefully maybe today.

good afternoon minnemo, glad you got the old girl running, huge relief when that engine finally fires up and runs after fighting that long! if the rad has a 9lb I wouldn't go higher, but someone here will chime in with the correct rad cap for it. do you have the manual?

I love the deep bellow of a G1000. I would put a 9# cap on and build less maximum pressure in the radiator. 13# will not hurt you either if that is what you got. It just more pressure to open if you are running near high end of temp gauge on heavy loads in warm weather.

Yeah, another trip to town yesterday to get two thermostats and put them in. I don't understand why people take them out either. They are there for a reason. I'll keep it at a 9# cap then.
