Has anyone ever tried a turbo on a GVI diesel?

Good info, but how much power are you trying to push when you start to blow rods out the block?

The GVI is factory 78HP at 1650RPm.

If you let it at 1900RPM, add a turbo, would you get to 110-120HP and still get a usable / reliable tractor?

u find out the rods wont take it ,if u able to stall it or lock tranny up ,u blow rods right out block,,,u need at least g1000 rods in it ,they are thicker, it have a lot better response, but pistons pistons ,melt down from the heat, if u want run cutting edge of heat , there no steel ring in Minnie pistons ,we had several 504 with turboes , pretty snappy, ya I have one on direct inj, I have one its ind, inj.. it run wth 4020 turbo ,10 or 11 degrees on pump setting , but tranny broke , it blew rods right out side of the block,, easy ta do ,old style heads ,tighter chambers, if u want high rpms, change the heads, above 3000 rpms old heads wont flow air threw them , need change valves set up in heads u want rpms,, jus my two cents, I do it lol for fun ,,turbo on minnies are cool ,, jus cant get crazy ,or u be fixing it

Quoting Removed, click Modern View to see

Agreed the set up can not effectively move fuel and air to take advantage of a turbo.

Be a total waste of time and money. MM used Lanova fuel system which will not respond to turbo like other higher rpm tractors.
