Utu front end spindle removal

Any ideas how to pull the spindle Assembly's off of the vertical shaft? I know you remove the big nut but I am not finding a puller that will do the job. Any ideas?

The I&T manual shows a picture of a great big two jaw-type puller. I have one that big, but it wants to lay over to one side when the screw gets tight.

You may have to make something. A little heat won't hurt either. (Maybe a lot of heat!) Remember its been on there over 50 years.
