Looking at on old minneapolis U. Believe it is either a 38 or 39. Actually says uts on the serial tag. Not sure what that means? Just curious what a fair price would be? The tractor is sitting in the back of a shed and has not run for 30 years. Is a wide front, tires are pretty well shot, head lights are missing, The front red nose piece is gone. It will certainly need some tlc to get running again. Any other info on these would be appreciated. It seems like most of the internet photos and info for U's are those that are post 1950 models. Thanks

1938 is more collectibile as they were made in same serial run as the UDLX and UPON.Two
batches were made in 1938. One before and one after UDLX. 1939 seems to be more common.
There was a split in 39 production where the reversed the carb and put air breather on
front of carb. Value is tough. There was a pile of red nose made from 38-41. I have 7 or 8.
Even though they are 80 years old they are few and far between but not valuable yet. Tires
can be an issue as most are 32 inch and very pricey. A runner with decent tin and rubber
1200$ Stuck maybe 600$.Serial number will be 310---.

Thank you for the response. I checked the serial# and it appears to be one of the last 39's #312418. Any idea what the uts stood for?

UTS means U Tractor Standard. The Standard means wide non-adjustable front axle. A narrow front would be a UTU, single front wheel is UTN, and adjustable wide front is UTE. That is about all the choices.

Picky, picky, picky. I figured if he didn't know UTS, I would only confuse him halfways. You didn't explain the UT Industrial and whatever the other two are.

I figured YOU would know that UTC is a High Crop Cane and you surely know what a UDLX Comfort Tractor is.

I presume you're in Ia. I'm in western IL and a it's of any sort
would bring 1k stuck where I'm at. GB knows his stuff but he's
in Canada in the Wheatland's. Everything out there is a standard
or adj wide front. I've never seen a ute in person and only a
couple uts. Lots of utu. I have four myself. I admittedly
haven't seen many sell but anything with a s front end around
here stuck or not has always brought good money.
