I can see Char Lynn 960. Char Lynn supplied hyd for oem and after market. There is couple of posts in archives of this site. I didn't find anything on Char Lynn web site

thanks shaun, I looked as well, my guess is these brackets may have been to hold a different style valve maybe? but all 3 m-5 manuals I have don't show those brackets? and I don't see any place for them to bolt up to or any thing that they would hold in place? going to email Harold the former owner and see if he knows what they did.

In my Char-Lynn manual I found that 960 is a valve to control a double acting hyd cyl, it can be converted to single acting control if needed. Those pieces may have been the "hold down" bracket for the valve. There is no picture of that in the book

Your hydraulics outlets have bee modified. They originally were mounted in two swivel
brackets. They used ends common to MM. Forget name. Most were converted to Pioneer. To clean
you have to remove whole assembly. Not a fun job!

Those are the end plates I was talking about!! If your valves don't have them, then somebody switched the valves and left bones lay in that area.

thank you gary that explains that mystery!, now what are you doing this afternoon  its got to get done gb. so i'll be draining and removing tank to get all the hoses changed out (all rotten and weeping) from what I can see the valves themselves are ok, they look dry from what I can see, but once I get the tank off i'll get a better look. thanks again.

thanks MMDEL, the valves look dry from what I can see, just the hoses rotten and weeping so will drain the tank and remove, clean up, and change out all the hoses. mystery solved! thanks again

Hoses are not just rad hoses. They have to be for oil otherwise... Just took two apart to
get pto shaft out. Most down south not familiar with Type E hydraulics. All we ever see.say
As Del say valves were Charlyn and were poor. Have a scrap one that was converted to
Grescan. Later MM used Wooster (M670)valves. They all leaked when hot. First one I did 30
years ago was to add two spools to M670 E type.Needed for grapple fork. Was a challenge as
there is limited room under seat. You will find out! Thanks for sending us the storm.
Nothing yet but .....

thanks gb. I plan on going in with the hoses and couplers to my local hydraulic shop, those guys know hydraulics and will custom build you what ever you need. I will take all the old hoses and fittings in with me and get mike to build me all new ones. and I know what you mean about limited room under the seat. getting the tank drained(found drain pipe) and getting it out is going to be fun. I will be getting hyd. hoses for the hyd. system and rad hoses for the cooling system! already learned that one the hard way years ago

oh by the way gb. your welcome on the storm, but it won't be there for a while! it's still here dumping on us :( but it will be coming your way and then on over to bruce in Ontario! he hasn't got any snow left and I feel bad for him so sending him a bunch

Easiest way is take out the 6 bolts that hold assembly to rearend. There is 4 big 15/16 on
back and 2 or 4 3/8 on front. Remove lines to pump and lift whole seat assembly off.

FWIW, here's how they fit on the Char-Lynn valve. Obviously, you have one complete one, and two broken parts of another.

thank you bob, that gives me a clear picture of what and how they looked, the valves that are in the tractor don't look like that so will assume they have been changed out. will know for sure when I get the tank assembly out. thanks again bob.

correction by me bob, you where right on them being char-lynn exactly like that. with all the muck and debre in there, I finally got the tank off, the hoses and fittings all out of the way, cleaned it all up and now looking for 1 more good bracket to hold the left side valve. I installed the 1 good one I found in the muck.
