finally got the m-5 in the shop for it's winter work over, started pulling tin work, pulled the air cleaner off the manifold as I have to r&r the manifold, big hole in it filled with melted lead but lead is pealing off. got a new one from stieners, hydraulic leaks, power stearing leak, bent draw bar and fender. replace all the hydraulic system hoses. new circ heater hoses and fittings, it's a long list already and i'm sure it will get longer before we are done  some pics of todays start.

Like most. Using fenders for braking. Missing back cover plate for hydraulic tank like all.
Looks clean and in good shape.

It do's have the back hydraulic tank cover plate gb. if you look at the 2nd. pic from the top you can see it. gb. where is the best place to drain the tank? looking in the manual it shows a drain but this one doesn't have it. I need to get the tank out to replace the hydraulic hoses, they are all leaking from old age. i'm still trying to figure out how they bent that fender 180, and bent up the draw bar bracket?

Be easier to change drawbar brackets than straighten. Early M5 had bonnet breather top
where later had the plastic dust bowl. The headlight buckets will be different than later
ones. Thinking early had Grescan valves. Just removed a Type E hydraulic one. Had to pull
out another pto shaft.

Finally got mine out of shop. Hard to tune a diesel inside. Took it out on road for bit of
a break in. Got all leaks fixed. Had to redo pto again. Not happy with hood. Will look for
another. Need two pins called pull link to support. Part # 10A16399 (10A9263)

Runs like any M5 diesel. Cold blooded. PS and 3 pt seem to be ok with rebuilt hydraulic
pump. Clutch not releasing properly. Not sure what's going on there. As with any rebuild
there is bugs in it. Cruises in road gear. Old ones with 34's would do 12 mph. This has
38's and alot faster.

(quoted from post at 09:25:26 02/26/18) Early Hyd. valves were Char-Lynn. All aluminum, over time became leakers. End cap warps.
MMDEL
MMDEL are parts still available for the valves? I suspect your correct as there is hyd. oil leaking out from under the front plate where the valves are bolted to.

It's been a little while since I rebuild one. As far as I know the only thing would be the Quad rings. I don't think the end Plates are still around.

Now that I said that I think the original were Orings and I replaced them with Quad Rings.
