A few years ago I heard of a MMR for sale so went to look and the fellow said yes he would sell it on the condition I took 2 more so picture of the 3 at home .I fixed the later model first ( picture enclosed ) and now working on the 39 modelwhich I will finish this summer

Saves knee caps, but I like to make them original and you can do the brakes while in there.
Three in SK same condition but chopped. Some are torched and some nicely cut. Should be a
snap ring on outer groove.
Odd configuration as front standard shouldn't back be? Rears were same style on all R
models except industrials.

Thanks for the pictures!! Sure looks beautiful where you are at! Especially with that line of MM tractors!

Don't see too many Rs out here on the high plains of Texas. Way more Us and G series from that era.

Minnie u, is there any remains of the
battery box on your 39? I'm curious to
where it originally was mounted.

here is a box on the right hand floor platform but I can not say that its the proper place ( it looks original )

My parts book lists a platform mounted battery box and a 64" battery cable(going by memory on the length)used on the early R's. Yours is more than likely correct. I'll send you a private message.

Not to hijack your original thread - but just as a comparison - here is a local auction lineup showing the typical models (except for the G708 ha ha) from a few years ago of a farm family that was diehard MM fans!

They bought several of these tractors new - and still were making a living farming with them when they sold out.

By the way, this is our region's idea of a "grassy meadow"!! It sure doesn't compare to all your lush green!

As far north as you are - how long is your growing season??

(quoted from post at 03:08:09 02/07/18) The G708 with the factory front weights catches my eye....would love to own one.

This is a picture of the battery box on my 39 RTS (sorry I forgot to measure it ). yes a neat line up of tractors there I do not have a Minnie with the front wheel assist but I do have a 97 Massey with it .Our growing season starts with planting end of april 1st part of may and usually goes til the end of oct (usually ) and with being so far north we have a lot of sunlight the 1st part of may we have at least 16 hours and by june 21 we will have over 20 hours of daylight a day.I noticed the old style mufflers in picture would they still be original our are always rusted off.

Parts book show RT853 for battery box until 1940. Box was moved by gas tank and had a
common cover used on Z's and U'S RT892 which crosses to 11A330. No cover is shown for 39
year but shows 2 3/8 wingnuts so box would have been basically a holder as platform piece
was RT898. Also shows wooden spacer for battery box RT866. Cabbed R had battery box in
front corner and had shorter battery cable. My guess is only long old style batteries were
available and were shimmmed with wood in box. The 1940 battery box was made to fit square
type batteries.
