this is a 1953 model and it has the semi live pto lever on the left side , also got to looking at it and the left axle is longer with this set up. just wonder if there was many U's with this pto before the special came out with it ? or if its a bit rare?

Bull pinion shaft had to changed for LPTo on early U's with drum brakes and is uite a job. Was an option. Later models had disc brakes so lpto could be added on with out changing shaft.. Specials had lpto as option like all the rest. Maybe one in 20 has the option? There is no actual numbers.

I have a '54 UTS(Diesel) with the live pto. I would imagine it was a popular addition if you wanted to pull a combine or baler or other equipment that sometimes needs to stop and 'clear its throat'.
Both axles the same length, but a hole was torched in the fender to clear the clutch cover. So I presume the live pto was added after it was sold.

Which side are the brake pedals on on your tractor? Some are both on the left. Mine are both on the right.

My UTS has that option..beleive it to be factory which is weird because I believe my tractor is a 40 some thing (single peice head).
