U302 Shifting

Just curious why it seems to be easier to shift gears in low than high on my U302? I have a tough time getting it out of gear if it comes to a complete stop. Put it in low, and no problems.

That is normal and I believe is mentioned in the operators manual that for
easier shifting move the ampli-torque lever to low range.

That's normal it has to do with the way the torc is made. The sprag that makes the low side work keeps the tractor from free rolling keeping
tension on the gear teeth making it hard to get out of gear. What I do normally is just pull it out of gear right before you stop rolling.

I've started doing the same thing - Pulling out of gear right before stopping. Just wasn't sure if this was normal or not, I've only had this tractor since May, and it spent most of the summer torn apart to overhaul the engine.

Thanks!

Designed that way. The torque
amplifiers on IH and Multipower on MF
is similar. What prevents them from
free wheeling or coasting, also holds
them in gear. Just shift back to
low, shift transmission and go .
