cruising through kiji alberta farm equipment adds and came across a 1926 twin city 17-28 steel wheel tractor, serial # 23640 seller says it runs nice and in nice original condition he;s asking $4000.00? add # is 1326725707 the tractor looks in decent shape.

Find out how the fenders are, these were very thin and can cost some to replace.
The extension rims are a nice extra. He is probably at the high end on price, but
if it holds water, starts good and has good gearing he is not far off.
I started working on a '26 a year ago, it needed a lot and sold at auction for 1900.
There was one on another site in running condition for less than 3k, unpainted.
But you never know what you have until you have it. GREAT old tractor, dual cam and
4 valve, I like em a lot.

Sn 23640 is a 1927 model. In 1926 the 12-20 was re rated to 17-28. I have a 1924 12-20 as
well as a 1930 17-28 with road wheels.(only 2 known)

I've got 2 (IIRC) 12-20's in pieces and mostly outside, in north central ND.

I's always hoped to get one together and running, but that's not gonna happen!

Would love to but a 2500 mile round trip prices it out.
well more power we'll have to come up with something I need close to you and we'll meet in the middle

I am saving up to buy a nice 17-30 Minneapolis when I find it and the time is right. My grandpa had one in his collection when I was a kid in the late 80’s. It was restored and looked great.

(quoted from post at 02:12:34 01/16/18) Hey Carvel....gotta stop posting all these tractors i want to buy them all! Found a GB to drag home but this twin city is very tempting......
good morning Thomas, I'm the same as you! I want to buy them all, restore them and keep them rolling but I have most of what I need and will be using in my small haying operation. I'm still trying to figure out how to get my hands on that nice g-1000 in whanam by grande praire. i'll just do my part restoring and using my 2 m-5's, and keep looking for more mm implements I can use with them. so far iv'e found a mm 10 ft. disc, 2 bottom af plow and a 4 bottom. the fun is in the hunt

morepower I will keep on the lookout for a 17-30 for you, so if a blue dodge dually pulling a 35 ft. goose neck with a twincity 17-30 pulls into your yard don't start shooting

Thats a cool looking old original! I love the wheel extensions! Critical for all the extra horsepower in tough traction conditions! lol

I've got one very similar, but instead of the belt pulley, mine has a mechanical PTO...

Tom, we might be onto a good system here. John spots tractors for us, and we drag them home! No more hunting for more projects! As if we needed any more, lol!

I have my eye on a couple Molines, but we'll have to see what summer brings. Still digging out of a hole, my truck didn't turn a wheel from August to late November last year. I'll for sure be bringing the Screamin' Demon to the show again this year though!

not a problem Lyndon, just let me know what your looking for and i'll keep an eye out, sorry to here about work being slow as a 1 man business I know how that hurts! now who is the screamin demon and what show are you talking about? would be great to meet you and tom and talk tractors.

It was a bit of a questionable business decision on my part that backfired, but I'm now pulling chemical tankers, so it worked out great in the end.

Screamin' Demon is one the names that stuck to my 1959 Oliver 990. The 3-71 Detroit barking through a straight pipe makes for good music! The show I mentioned is the Strathcona Vintage Tractor Associations show near the end of August. They put on a really awesome show, it's one of the shows I'm going to make sure to hit every year from here on in. Westlock is the other one I'm planning to go to this year. Track down the big redhead, I'm always happy to chat!

Had several chances to buy a 17-30. To me they are archaicbig,, clumsy compared to the TC.
Known to break arms. TC has the smooth running twin cam 16 valve motor. 17-30 has the crude
oiler system. It has to be good or tractor are cheap. Without oiler never a 5k tractor.

Since a kid I have been fascinated maybe by the design I guess I am not sure. I remember sitting on the seat as a kid 30 plus years ago reading “the Minneapolis Threshing Machine Company” on the rear of the fuel tank thinking this things pretty cool.

A 3-71 straight piped Detroit, now that would take some serious ear protection sitting behind that!! I will make plans to be there, and I'm pretty sure you won't be hard to find especialy if you've got that 3-71 barking
