Would like to know the factory ground speeds for an R in 1st 2nd and 3rd, this is strictly set up to be a pulling tractor.

Yep will be allowed 20% over 335if I read the rules right. I have it running with a 206 at 330 cubes holding water. Finishing up drawbar and a couple other items, will post pics soon. Trying real hard to make Waterloo NATPA for a trial run. Have a promise that it will be at Sigourney.

I have 12.4x38 tires on my 1949 RTU. The governor high idle speed is set at 1800 RPM. The no-load ground speeds on a level road are (1st) 3.5 (2nd) 5.2 (3rd) 6.3 and (4th) 17.4

These are GPS recorded speeds. Once hooked to a sled, it will sometimes sound the 3 mph horn in 1st gear before the first cones, but not always. Depends on the track. Once underway a ways past the cones, I can open it up and not sound the horn.

The 12.4x38s are the same height as a pair of 13.6x36s, but lighter. With the 12.4s on 12 inch rims and the 13.6s on 11 inch rims, there is not a lot of difference in ground contact width.

I know, I could widen the 36 inch rims, but they are already too heavy for me to stay in the 3500 pound class.
 
400 small block chevy .60 over so 4.185 and 6 inch stroke. Welded in sleeves and heads that were flowed and additional 40 cfm. Small block chevy valves have same stem diameter are close enough in length to work. Much cheaper than buying stock and they are stainless.
