G705-708 steering gear and cylinder questions.

I am about to start tear down and replacement of the wheel bearings and rubber boots on my G706 front wheel assist axle. I also have a very sloppy steering box that could stand a rebuild or replacement. Also I have verified psi at the steering cylinder but my power steering is non existent. The service manual states that the steering box is a Saginaw and the cylinder is a Ross. A quick web search shows that both company’s are still around but I have no clue where to begin. It would appear that Moline sourced both from a medium/heavy truck application. Any help on rebuild or parts sources would be appreciated.

I think this is the kit I got for doin the steering box off ebay $40 plus s/h Repair Kit - Manual Saginaw Steering Gear Type 525. Part # RK550 would double check box number on Midwest steering website. I had broken ear on box so got a box from a 60s chevy impala swapped the guts worked great.

Am sure steering box is a Ross like most MM's. Pressure just off flow divider from back of
pump. Normally never gave trouble except leakage. GV1,Massey 95/97 same. Our Massey 97
FWA never had boots and gave no any problems.

GB I will double check as the manual shows a Ross box on the GVI to early G706 and a Saginaw on a late G706. My serial number is just a handful from the end so assuming Saginaw box with Ross cylinder.

I figured if I’m going to go thru the front end might as well replace the boots. Case ih wants like three hundred a piece but with some searching 100 a piece will buy them.

I?ve replaced the rubber boots and bearing several times. The rubber boots bearly fit over the front axle. So if you put a thin film of grease on the
inside of the rubber boot it will help them slide over the axle without tearing. This was recommended to me by an old MM mechanic in the ?70s.

G706 supplement shows a 35A2136 Group 2 power steering booster cylinder. Also supplement
with 3 point hitch. Book shows 241 specific serial used different steering boxes.
