I am starting a full ground up restoration project of a 1937 ZTU on rubber. I was wondering if any one has a great idea how to get the rear steel rims off the cast hubs? With some banging and pounding I was able to get the rims off the front cast hubs. However, on the rear, the studs came out with the nuts pretty easy but there is no evidence that these rear rims have ever been off the hubs and I know the tractor has been setting for many years. I was thinking (dangerous I know) if I got the hub and rim assembly off the axles, laid them down flat on their back (with the U bolt part up) and then tried to drive the cast hubs down out of the steel rims. I know these rear cast hubs are often broken but these are not so I do not want to damage them. Thanks for any suggestions. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
