clutch for JT

We just got a JT and the clutch is in pieces. Any help on new or used clutch would be appreciated. We will be coming to the Old Trusty Show in Clay Center in September. we had hope to have it together by then and bring it, but we can wait.
Thanks for any help and a great forum

Having a JTU, I know the clutches are somewhat different from a ZT Clutch. I wonder if anyone has made a ZT clutch work on the JT shaft? I am just asking this because ZT parts are much more plentiful than JT parts.

Perhaps someone on here knows for sure or you can post this question on the jetstar MM website and see if they know there.

I have a '37 JTU too. Mine has the Waukesha engine.

But the clutch is different from a Z clutch in that it has a tapered collar that wedges the fingers that push the plates together, rather than than links with pins in the ends that go over center to push the plates together.

But if you say a Z clutch will work, that greatly increases his chances of finding something that works.

I was sure that either clutch will fit the internal tooth gear in the flywheel, but I did not know for certain that the Z clutch would go on the JT transmission shaft.

Jt books showa a JT 251A clutch assembly. ZTU used same clutch up until serial 560824
which is early 1938. An updated clutch JT2251 was then used in first ZTS also. I am
thinking later Z clutch will work if clutch shaft

Different clutch shaft on later Z's with nut. Older had snap ring according to books. JT
used a JT251A complete clutch which was also used on ZTU into early 1938. After ZTU and
ZTS used the JT2251 clutch. Many JT's were transplanted with the RE motor due to high
failure of the Waukesha motor The clutches must have been interchangable.

We have a new clutch assembly for a Z but the imput shaft on the transmission is bigger on the JT than the Z and the keyway is way bigger on the JT. The "clutch plate" may interchange but the mechinism won't.
Thanks guys

If the clutch plate is intact you can send it out and have it rebuilt. If
not I can't help, but you may find one in a parts tractor to have rebuilt.
