Sludge removal from Housing

I had another UT follow me home and was inspecting and servicing it the last few days. A previous owner had changed the original
PTO housing for the power lift version so I got both original and power lift. I was changing the PTO back to original and took a
look at the the inside housing and what a MESS in the bottom. Must be two inches deep of sludge that looks like a scouring calf.
I took my syphin blow gun and Diesel fuel and tried to wash it out, but would not move! I would like to wash this stuff out and
put new oil back in, so my question is what can I use to wash out the inside with?

Thank You for the help.

We have done two that were as you described. Had to use a putty knife and scrape it out. Then put plug back in and put in some gas or other solvent and reach in with a wire brush and scrub.

I manually used as much as I could dumped 15
gallons of diesel in it and drove it around. I drained it
let the sediment settle out and repeated the process
until it came out clean. Before people get orders this
is strictly a process I use for a gear drive
transmission. If it used trans/rear for hydraulic
reservoir, has a wet clutch or power shift in any
variation this approach is not something I would do.
