MMoline Belt pulley pin?

Anyone tell me if the Pin that hold the belt pulley to the shaft is suppose to stay on the shaft or come off before placement of the cast cover? I seen in manuel that kinda looks like it stays ? Not sure..... if so do you just punch it out.

I would remove it because if it comes loose it can jam and break your cover. My dad always used to remove the key and put it in the hub that is in the belt pulley. To remove it you can use a small chisel on the outer end and just tap it upward and it should come out.
