Our local community had a tribute in the passing of a long time Member, Farmer, friend , Dairyman.
I was asked to have my UTN carrying a banner in his tribute at our local Portuguese organization, celebrating 90 year anniversary.
Joe D .Coelho started his farming career in the Easton area of Central Valley Ca. with a M.M. UTN L.P. similar to this one which He has saved but not in running condition.

Tony,

Very nice tractor and appropriate tribute. Looks like you found every thing you needed for the restoration.

Thank you ! Yes I finally did, was a long process, but I love this old girl she purrs like a kitten and is a pleasure to drive.
I have 11 others restored most I.H. But there is something about that Moline L.P. sound when you reach forward and open throttle that is music to my ears. It has no power steering but steers like it does.
Really enjoy her . She is the memories I had as a kid trying to learn to drive it when no one was around because everyone said I was to young & it to big a tractor for me to drive. I was about 7-9 years old but I did it when no one was around. But never really got to drive it, "LEGALLY" till this was restored several years back.
Had to wait till 70 to drive finally .lol.

I know what you mean by the sound as you open the throttle on a U engine. I volunteer at an Agricultural Interpretive Center in MN and we have a UTU gas with narrow front (2 wheels) that gets used regularly.

Here is a picture of it planting oats with a friend driving.

Nice Minneapolis Moline. Nice tractor. Nice tribute. Always nice to see another fellow Minneapolis Moline guy here in California. I think there are more of us than most realize. Our local club (WHEAT) here is Modesto, CA did a drive on Memorial Day morning. My Z was the only Moline in our drive. I do not recall seeing your tractor at Tulare this past April. Hope your U is there next year. I will look for the UTN with the crome tank straps.

Very Nice Tribute Tony.
Your Tractors are all so Beautiful, My Wife and I always enjoy seeing you and Your Equipment Shining when we go to Tulare.
Sorry for the loss of your Friend...Tom & Kandi in Phelan, Ca.

Thank You Ron,
I love that picture ! That Moline U is a beauty.
Yes to my ear M.M.U's especially on propane have a very definite sound.
As a matter of fact I use to stop by Oil Well pumps out west ,JUST TO HEAR THE M.M.ENGINE QUIETLY RUNNING ON NATURAL GAS.
Slow RPM"S but the Governor would kick in on the up stroke of the derrick.
Would satisfy my craving of the M.M. sound. lol.
