Will a R intake/exhaust manifold fit a Z?

Except for the extension above the carburetor, it should fit right on the engine. The extension is longer (I think) on an R because the carburetor is smaller. The rest of it should work on a ZA (Yes, I know some ZA tractors only say 'Z' on the tag.)
Now that I think about it, Do both the R and ZA used the same link from the governor to the carburetor. I don't know.

The earlier Z(T) tractors had a vertical exhaust from the center of the exhaust manifold. So if you want to put an R manifold on an early Z, you will have to at the very least make a new hole in the hood for the exhaust pipe. And I am not sure there is enough room under the hood for the regular size muffler on a ZT.

My 47 ZTU is a bit of a frankentractor. The engine is a 43, and it uses an R exhaust manifold. There is a 90 degree exhaust joint which allows the muffler to go out the original hole in the hood. I don't know if the intake manifold is for an R or a Z, but the carb extension looks like the right one for a Z. It came with a TSX 36 carb (which is right for an R ), but I run a TSX 97 on it. I'm still working on getting the governor action right. This tractor came as a batch of parts on a trailer, but it's handy for cutting the lawn and tilling the garden. unc

So it should fit a ZAU correct? The ZTU is early correct? And ZAU later?

Yes, the RTU intake/exhaust manifold is the same as a ZAU. Yes, the link from the governor to the carburetor is the same on both.

The manifold extension is longer on the RTU to compensate for the shorter carburetor of the RTU. If the longer extension is used with the R carburetor, they will fit on either engine. Conversely, the short extension and larger ZAU carburetor can be used on either engine.

When I swapped a ZA engine into my 1949 RTU, I originally ran it with the RTU carburetor until I had time to rebuild a ZAU carburetor. It bolted right up.

The ZA series came out in 1949.
