Crossing Can/US Border with Tractors

Just made run to US which is convenient for myself as I can go to US pickup my mail and
be back in an hour. I checked on regulations on tractors. Any tractor going to US all
that is required is bill of sale with purchase price. Will be no duties as most are made
in US. Bringing a tractor into Canada has to have a value. On the value taxes are
applicably. So here in MB taxes are 13 percent on Canadian dollar value. So a tractor
worth 1000$ US would be taxed on Canadian dollar conversion which is roughly 1350$. So
taxes to be paid are 175$ Can or 130$ US. To cross into Canada you will need a birth
certificate and photo ID. Passport not required! To re-enter US a passport is required,
but a US citizen cannot be refused entry. If you are trying to get into Canada leave
your weapons at home. They are frowned on at our customs and you may be refused or lose
them.
So basically no broker or passport required usless done commercially.

By chance did you get any information about importing a tractor into the US that was made in England? I've heard that can be a nightmare.

Have shipped to UK through US. Shouldn't be any different than shipping a Cockshutt to US. Might be a bit of duty. long as it has a value attached.

It is your tractor so if you have your ID should not be an issue at all. Just east of me there is an yearly show and tractors are brought up. No real difference as going on rod run to US. No money is changing hands. It seems the bigger the customs the more issues.

An enhanced driver's license works as well as a passport for Canada/US crossing. Most states have them, but I think Minnesota doesn't have them (yet).
