Any one know how to tighten up the steering on a jet Star 2. I can turn the wheel about one turn before the wheels move. It seems to be in the gear box. Any rebuilds or adjustments that can be done

Sounds like the weld that holds plate on the bottom of the vertical steering sector shaft has broken. It is possible the sector is loose on the shaft and the key is worn out but I don't think that would allow that much slop. Are you sure the inner tie rod ends are tight in the plate?

Yes I just put new inner ball joints on. I can take them back off and check to see if plate Moves on the shaft
