I just re did a mm zas runs great now but loses oil pressure after about 20 30 mins took off the oil filter housing and found this square piece of metal punch into one if the hole is this normal and any help would be appreciated

yes, that's normal. I am thinking that is the bypass spring and ball that lets oil to the filter. I am thinking that if oil flow is low enough, none goes to the filter. All goes down the line to the bearings. If you want to check on the spring and ball, usually you can wiggle the bar out. The punch marks just make it stay together until its bolted to the block.

The 1-1/4" plug on the side with the setscrew in it is the adjustment for the oil pressure. There is a spring and a plunger behind the plug.

You may also have a problem with bearing clearance. That might be where your oil is going, hence, no pressure.

Also, you need to run a pretty thick oil. Either 10w40 or 30 wt.

I did not take time to check the circuitry but that should be the bypass valve to allow oil to get to the engine if the filter isn't replaced and gets plugged
MMDEL.

So i put 15w 40 in it today and ran it it seem to help now does not go to 0 pressure maybe about 10psi but ill check the bearings with plasty gauge when i get some but uts all new in there so i am not to sure

Thought you did total rebuild on motor? Try another gauge. If not bottom end wear. Crank pressure up to 45 or so and see if any change on warmup. Shouldn't fluctuate any more than 10-12. What are you using for oil filter?

I worked on a few, back a few days.I would look at the center main. We usted to get a under sized bearing just for it. Like .0025
