Vickers closed center hydro pump

I just bought a 69 M670 Super gas. I have bought service manuals, but they are lacking much info for the 69 and 70 model year changes. This 670 is leaking from the bottom of the pump (see pics it's leaking from where the plug is I am pointing at). I understand there is an o ring inside the area it's leaking. Can anyone tell me how to change this o ring? Is it a complete pump tear down? Also the left (as you are sitting on the tractor) brake was basically not working. I tried to adjust it and broke the rod that goes into the brake housing. The way it looks I have to remove the hydro filter reservoir to access the brake housing. Am I correct in my thinking on this? Thanks for any help on this. It runs like a top, and doesn't smoke. The leak is a constant drip which is driving me crazy. T

I will try to send you an e-mail. That is about the same basic pump they put on the 55 series Oliver tractors at that time. There used to be a kit for those and there is a needle bearing in there to that wears and helps with the leak. I can photocopy the Oliver instructions which is probably what you will get for repair parts. Also check your compensator setting while you are working on the pump.

Thank you for the response. The Vickers pump and closed center is all new to me so any help is appreciated.I also wanted to ask if someone related to you shoots military matches around Toledo/ southern Michigan? I was reading some match results and saw someone with your last name listed. Thanks again.

Accessing the brake and addressing your broken part shouldn't require the removal of anything hydraulic. You should be able to simply remove the outer plate of the brake housing and remove the disks and actuator. Your rod is broken off in the actuator. Once removed, get creative with a piece of threaded rod for replacement.

On the 69 and 70 the filter housing is mounted under the left side platform ( as you are sitting on it) right in front (actually between the housing and the wheel) of the brake housing. The only way I can see to access it is to remove the filter housing.

Likely correct. I've not worked on a 670. Your pump is the same as on my 900. My filter is left side, ahead of my left foot/clutch pedal. If your filter is hugging the brake, yep, you'll have to remove it.

I suppose they had to put it somewhere. Looks like a little disassembly and oily hands and a mess will be the order of the day. Nice looking 670. Obviously you'll have to remove anything in the way of the brake housing. Looks like some other nice looking Minnies in there, too.

Nice looking tractor, I've got one like it only diesel, yes you have to pull that oil tank to get to that brake, not one of MM best engineering designs, not a terrible job just time consuming, good luck.
