UTU muffler

I have a utu with a multi fuel manifold. What do you use to hold
the baffle still? I've tried washers but that doesn't work. Do
you have to make something or is something available? I guess to
clarify the exhaust stack rotates with the engine vibration.

Use 1" angle iron about 1" long. Angle iron at least 1/8" thick, 3/16 or 1/4" is better. Drill bolt hole (3/8"?) as close as possible to the inside of the corner. Cut one side down to height of the installed baffle. You may have to trim the other side of the angle iron as well.

Most manifold were warped or cracked over time causing poor fit for heat riser adjustment. Originally they had 90 degree tin clips with 1/2 studs and brass nuts. Seen several with asbestos stuffed under top. Studs often are rotted or eaten away along with threads.. Patch or replace with Chinese crude or update to later Chinese potless manifold like on M5 gassers. Note: if early U manifolds smaller throat!

It has a reproduction manifold on it. Thread holes are fine just never saw the hold downs. Think I will make some out of angle as was suggested. It is a 1950 model utu.
