Call Wendell Everett. 740-922-3335. Daytime. If no answer, keep trying.

He used to know someone who pulled an RTU with a 445 engine. He said the guy could win the light classes. If nothing broke.

Back in the 1960's I had to replace the bolts in the ring gear on an R about every other year for an old farmer who used it to plow. I think it had 38" wheels & tires. Dad had a 1952 model R that we plowed with and never had any trouble with the rear end. It has 34" wheels & tires.

Thanks for the helpfull replies and info. I have put studs on the ring gear to help with the working loose problem. Will be in the 100hp range when done. Guess we'll see how long it stays together. Don't really plan to pull it heavier than 3750. This has been one of those long term projects as I've been working on this since 2001.

100 hp? Impressive! I'm guessing you have a 220 engine in it? We have an rtu with a z motor and 38's and the ring gear is bad, as well as an rti with 24's with a bad ring gear. Not sure if tire size has anything to do with ring gears being funny if the bolts on them

Well have been able to put some more time into the R lately. Will end up with 330 cubes and about 2800 lbs. Lot's of mod's to include rack an pion steering, aluminum covers, foot clutch and brakes on the right side. Hopefully it will be running by August. Will try to post some pics if anyone's interested.
