I have just purchased a 3 bottom pull type plow, moline is stamed in frames, I believe it's an AF type plow, there is a height adjustment lever, but nothing else, should there be a hydraulic cylinder, if so how long and big, need one as plan on using the plow soon, it has one piece shares, knife lines,I believe, anyone have extras, any info would do, will upload a pic soon thanks.

any pics I could get of a 3 bottom hydraulic lift AF plow would be great, mine has solid wheels, thanks again Dusty

This is the only picture I have on my computer of my plow. It was a 3-16s put
down to 2-16 but is the same plow. I changed mine to hydraulic lift from an old
parts plow. I may have some shares that are decent shape yet if you need some. A
regular 8" stroke hydraulic cylinder is what you use on them. If you have solid
wheels on yours it must be a late 1950s model as I dont believe they used solid
wheels until about 1958 or later.

Alan, thanks for the response, what bore on that cylinder would 1.5" work, by the way great looking tractor plow combo, what year, model, not very familiar with minne mo's but very impressed with their ideas strength etc, this setup would be on a DC case, has dual remotes, pioneer couplings, etc, thanks
Dusty

Im betting the smallest cylinder that would work well would be at least a 2 1/2"
one or larger. The tractor is a 1952 ZAU. The plow is actually a 1945 model AF
but I had updated the hitch and added hydraulic to it. Do you have any pictures
of your plow?

no pics yet as I haven't got to take delivery due to poor weather, it's across a yard that's pretty muddy, so a 2.5" x8" dual acting cylinder would work?, did you say you may have spare shares Dusty

A 2 1/2" x 8" stroke should work but a 3" or 3 1/2" might be a little better if
they are available. Its not just lifting a plow but lifting it out of the
ground. Yes I should have some shares here.

Took delivery of plow today, no pics yet, was incorrect has spoke wheels, needs cylinder and hoses, 3 tires and tubes, and it seems w/o tear down will need wheel bearings and tail wheel bearing, do you know if these are just timkin type roller bearings, planning on getting a manual soon, very sturdy built, nice setup can't wait to use it????????

If they are like the older plows like mine, there are no bearings in the
wheels, just bushings. The furrow wheel, at least on steel wheels usually got
dirt dumped on top of the axle when the wheel went around. That in turn ended
up inside the bearing surface and wore on the axle. Mine was on steel and was
wore over 1/4" deep gouge. I built the axle up with welding and inserted a
bushing in the hub. I couldnt find a regular bushing at that time so I used
exhaust pipe. Yes it is steel but for the amount of plowing I do with it and
if I kept it greased it would work fine which it did. When you take the hub
off of the wheels there is a ring with a pin though it, that is what holds the
wheel on. 6.00 x 16s are the tire size, rear one is 4.00 x 12 if I remember
correctly. I do have a couple of spare parts from my plow yet so if you need
some parts let me know.
