The original subject was "Re: On the drawing board".

I am currently in San Antonio and doing some research on the V-12. Dallas Lein told me he thought the V-12 engines were tested in a small town with 4 letters. He said East of town, but you said west. Local source said not much irrigation east of town. The small town of Mico is west between SA and Hondo. There was an irrigation company based in SA that sold irrigation equipment during the time of testing. I plan to visit them. Do you have any recollection?

I have copies of some documents which show the 1600 ci engine was shipped back to Minnesota from Fort Stockton. It was damaged in transit. The memo written said a there were interested dealers who wanted to sell the engines, but White never followed up or even inspected the 1600. Any information would help in the search.

There's a story in the August 2016 issue of the Corresponded magazine by Dallas Lien. It says there's one in Kansas that is disassembled. Very interesting story.

At one time, shortly after White had the auction and sold a bunch of stuff, there were two of them (v12 1600's) setting at Welters. They were not compete as they were missing some manifolds and fuel systems. If I remember correctly, they belonged to someone else.

You might try this link to the MM Forum. Jim just posted yesterday in a very similiar arena to your question:

Thats a V-12 diesel you are talking about? My neighbor just bought a new Agco-Cat, thats suppose to be a V-12 , The dealer says you can run it at 1200 rpm, but they usually keep it at 1600, but it a slick tractor for that 1395, grain cart !

Your story reminds me of something I saw in the Porter Brothers scrap yard in Minot North Dakota, maybe 30 years ago. They had huge piles of scrap from the western ND oil fields. What I saw there had to be part of a Moline V12 engine. The partial engine was crankcase and crank with a few Moline double cylinders / heads still attached, a big thing mounted on a skid. I suspect it was cut up for scrap. I have never seen another like it, also saw a Moline V4 there the same day.

Found this.

This is very interesting, can you follow up some with what publication this was printed in and if there is any more about these MM engines that we are missing above, below or next to the old pictures? When was this written? It almost looks like other engines in the picture as well so were these sitting in an old engine grave yard or were they still in use then? Also, where was that double 605 engine on display when the color picture was taken? Thanks for posting them.

Quite a few years ago (over 20) I was at an old MM dealership I think in OK that had some things I had never seen before still packaged up as they were shipped. They had a 760 Uni Balor, a V4 power unit with a hand clutch and a 2 cylinder oil cooled power unit that had what looked like M5 blocks on it. I have since seen info on the 2 cyl power units but have seen nothing on the V4 power units.

This is where I stumbled onto this so this is what I know on the subject.http://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=76709&DisplayType=flat

To clarify the side by side was from that link. The v pic is on pintrest posted by someone named Zach Whitman.

The 1210 side by side and the small power unit with it belong to the Nelsons in Blanchardville, WI. That picture was taken at a show featuring MM, don't know the location.

I think that the picture of the 1210 power unit of the Nelsons was taken at Antique days ( not sure that is the correct name) at Darlington Wi.

Several years ago they featured MM and I saw the 1210 there.

I have information that one of the 1600 V-12 tested in Stockton TX was returned to Hopkins. It was apparently damaged in shipping. A memo from White Equipment indicated they did not plan to manufacture the V-12 and had no plans to repair the damaged engine.

The 1210 pic was at the Burnett show near Beaver Dam, WI several years ago when they hosted one of the national MM shows. The 1210 is mine while the "small" unit beside it is a 403 that belongs to my brother.

(quoted from post at 19:15:14 02/04/17) know any history on it? was this a common set up or experimental or something else?

The V-12's were experimental and never put into production. One of the dealers involved in the testing at Ft. Stockton requested the V-12 1600 be returned. He said he and others wanted to be able to market the V-12. There was no indication that White followed up.

We tested V12's made by Contintental for Army tanks. The M88 Recovery vehicle had the gas version and diesel in the 1950's. They were built in
York PA. I retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground in 1989 after 38 years. Two of those years I was in the Army at Ft Bragg NC with the 82nd Airborne. Our daughter was born at Bragg in 1954. She became an RN and is thinking about retiring. She never married or had any children.

I am still a reservist and was active army during the Iraq war. We lost the right bank on an m88 going across the border into Iraq. It drove to Baghdad on six cylinders. Took five gal of oil every hundred miles but made it. Hard running engine. It is a horse and a half.
