MM U 6v Solenoid

I am searching for a 6V solenoid for a MM U from 1951. It might be under Massey Ferguson for parts, but I don't know where to look. So far we have checked TSC, Napa & Edingers and they can't get them for us. Edingers said they are discontinued, TSC was out and Napa said they never sold them. Help appreciated in finding what I need.

Thanks,
Lydia

I will see if I can find some info out for you. The originals are a curved mounting
plate, and 3 terminals. There may be other 6V tractors or vehicles of that era that
use the same ones. If you search 6V starter solenoid on amazon there are some more
pictures of them and you may be able to match one up.

I know some NAPA stores "dont do tractors" but they have had them in their sure-enough paper catalogs, because I have bought 6v solenoids from them. I think it was a case of the parts person not knowing how to find a part if he or she couldn't look it up in the computer.

Ive had that with a distributor cap for my M5 with Prestolite distributor at a place. They couldnt find it under MM so I told them to look at an 800 Case. He said that one we have.

We got the solenoid I ordered in the mail yesterday and mounted it, but when we hooked up the battery cable it arched. This is not the first solenoid we have installed and there is only one way it can go on the U. Trying to get a hold of the seller about the problem now.

Blessings,
Lydia

Where did it arc at? Connections have to be tight on those but you have to be
careful and hold the inside nut when tightening the outside ones.
