gas issues big mo 400

Have not started on 4 or 5 months. Have fuel at the sight glass but will only start on starter fluid. stuck float? Can I drop the lower half of the bowl to check for fuel? Thanks<>Mike

There should be a drain plug on bottom of bowl that you can remove to check for fuel flow.

I have a 4Star that should be same engine as Big Mo 400. On it the carburetor and drain plug set just above and slightly ahead of the starter.

I would put a plastic bag over the end the starter before I pulled the drain plug in the carburetor.

Pulling the carb should not be difficult

Plunger valve operated by the float may be stuck. Remove drain plug, turn on fuel shutoff, then take a screw drive, grab the shaft and tap the top of the carb with the screw driver handle. If stuck, that may knock the plunger loose.

Before pulling carb, I would also disconnect input to carb and see if you have fuel there. You could have obstruction in fuel line
