A typical UDLX was usually missing something but not all of these things...Often the front bumper,
front fenders, side shields, grill, hood, back door, most of the cab accessories, and sometimes even the
cab was gone..The one in the 4th picture is #310501 which would have been the first true cab tractor....
Paul was missing the cab but I think that he found one..Quite often parts had to be made to restore
these tractors as there just wasn't much laying around with only 150 produced....I wonder if anyone
ever found some NOS UDLX parts at a dealer?

I would have to believe if the farmers knew how valuable these UDLX would become. They would of taken better care of them.

I'm not a moline guy but I have enjoyed your udlx pictures and stories. I'm curious how guys ever found the parts to put one back together? I guess they would find the tractor and then track down what happened to the cab or fenders or whatever else was missing? It seems that as rare as a udlx is, if the cabs were taken off they would be even harder to find. I was also wondering if people think their are any original ones still out there somewhere in the wild? are any of them confirmed junked and gone?

Several people that bought UDLX's in the 1980's found some of the missing parts
at the place where they bought it...They were in sheds, granaries, fence rows,gullies,etc..
Also if the UDLX had 2-3 owners they traced the tractor owners back and several times found
cabs and other parts at the place where the tractor was bought new....If you have enough
money most parts can be reproduced...My guess is that theres still a couple of UDLX's out there
that are hid away and have never been found..At least 33% of the UDLX's were probably junked.

Wait until you see some of the pictures coming up later this week...Some UDLX's had a rough life..

One sold here in Denver on eBay a few years ago. No cab. ROUGH! Got big $. I went to see it and took photos. Been moving my office so lot of stuff misplaced right now. Should have photos somewhere and possibly serial #. Tractor was reported to be from NW Colorado, and had been here since new.

Thank you for posting these. I have an appreciation for pictures of the ones out in the "wild". I cant imagine what a rush it would be to find one sitting somewhere yet and what would go through your mind. :)

I have it wrote down..It was serial #310020X and was from the Hamilton,Colorado area...It was rough and brought 40K or so...I saved a picture of it but our computer crashed and I lost it...That was in April 2004..A picture would be appreciated...Thanks..

Posted the 2 photos I could find with that serial # under the thread about "open" tractors. Now it doesn't show up under the latest posts. Today has been a technological challenge day. If I find my other photos, I will post as well.

Thats true of a lot of things, I guess...

We were swapping stories at an auction one time about the "one that got away" - and this one fellow chimed in sheepishly saying he learned to use a cutting torch by practicing on the old JD Waterloo Boy stashed out back of their barn before they became worth anything...

It Is! My dad and his brothers bought it in '85 and my uncle ended up buying that utx that you've been showing pictures of. My dad has since bought out his brothers shares and now owns the tractors. In the process of restoring it now!
