The first (25) UDLX MM's #310001 to #310025 were to be built with no
cabs..They were called UPON's or UTOX's....You could add a cab later
if you wanted and I think that half or more did..

The top picture is UTOX #310008X and it never had a cab..Some friends
took this picture on the west coast in March 1983...The bottom picture is UTOX
#310022X which was in a northern state....My list shows (11) of these tractors
left and I'm that there are several more....#310001 and #310025 both exist
and have cabs.

After doing a little research I'm up to (13) of the first 25 tractors...I see that
UTOX #310008X had a cab added and sold on a 2016 Mecum auction for 200K.
I also see that UTOX #310504 sold on the same auction for $150K..It was not on my list..
Possibly 15 of the first 25 exist..Mecums stated that only 20-30 UDLX MM's remain..
They don't have a clue what they are talking about..I and several others spent many
hours in the 1980's-1990's putting together info on the remaining UDLX MM's..

I forgot to mention that #310504 couldn't be a UTOX..I wonder if Mecums didn't
have the serial numbers switched on the two tractors..I can't believe that someone would
have put a cab on #310008X...Anyways #310504 wasn't on my lists.

If those were the tractors from MI in 2016 I wouldn't doubt they put the wrong metal on the wrong tractor when they restored the pair.

I was just curious, do the serial number tags read UTOX on those? I hadnt heard of them before just the UPONs. Learned something today. :) Thank you for taking the time posting pictures. I like seeing some of these more than seeing the ones restored.

I saw practically none of these tractors in person so can't really tell you if the
tag read UTOX?I have over (50) more pictures coming up in the next week or so..
Its time that these pictures were shared with others..

Schneiders had 2 UDLX and the UOPN when I visited in 2012. They had sold one of the UDLX and were storing it. They had someone else restoring their tractors and it wouldn't surprise me if they really didn't know the differences between the open and deluxe and installed the wrong parts on the wrong chassis.

Tractor # 310020X sold on eBay in May 2004. $36,800 was the reported selling price. I went to see this tractor, and took pics. Unfortunately, I did not verify serial #, and can only find 2 photos. It was rough, and missing quite a few parts. If anyone has this on their lists with a different or new location, I'd love to hear about it.
