Moline splitting stand.

Guys, I am wanting to build a splitting stand. It would primary be used on MM's but would be used on other brands also.

The MM's don't bolt up to the stand the same as other tractors because the frame rails are "lose" when splitting an MM.

Does anyone have any good ideas or photos before I start on this?

Thanks
Joe

I actually found these pictures on the YT form a while ago I believe and saved them as I was so impressed with them.

The front one looks like it would be ideal to prevent the engine from tipping over provided the base was wide enough and supports the engine and side rails. But could be adaptable to other makes too I am sure.

The back stands appear to be two. One to support and remove the MM transmission and the other to support the differential housing.

Maybe they will give you some ideas.

Good luck

I am in need of one also for my G950 and to work on the M5. Im still working on it
in my head lol. I figured I would build one heavy enough to fit the 950 and then
adapt it to the M5. Here is a picture of what MM originally used. I would want it a
little heavier than pictured though as you know how much weight is on the G series.
I think on the front stand, if a guy makes the cross brace that bolts to the oil pan
removable, if needed, and made plates to fit the side rails you could adapt it for
other makes. I have a picture or two of ones that were used on the M series as well
but they wouldnt be much for universal fits for others. If you get started on one
please post some pictures to help the rest of us out ;)

LOL. Those are ones that I posted a while back and just re-posted. We must be on the
same page ;) They were a 3 piece set for $155 back then from the service bulletin. I
think you are right about the rear sections.

Yes Alan I was very impressed with them and see you have done a close up view which is even more helpful. I'm sure that with all the talent which is out there we'll see some great modifications and ideas to adapt them to other makes and models.

Sorry I didn't give you credit for posting them originally but I couldn't remember exactly who had put them on YT. Thank you very much Alan.

Isn't it amazing to see the cost of items such as this, back in the day. You wouldn't buy the materials to build them for that now.

Thank you again Alan and Seasons Greetings.

I made mine similar to the pictures with a couple changes.

1. Instead of the straps with long slots that go forward from the bottom of the front support, I used two sizes of pipe with tabs for bolts on each end that are adjustable in length so they don't hit on things on the engine like the original ones do. They have a 3/4 square headed setscrew that locks them.

2. I made the second one shorter than the factory ones so it can be used on lower utility type tractors. I made a spacer for on top of it from two 12" pieces of 6" channel with a plate on each end to hold the spacing of the back of the channels apart for long pieces of all thread to go up through to screw into the bottom of the bell housing. I also welded a nut in the center so they don't spread during use.

This is the post I made back in October. These stands came out from the factory When they was having problems with G1000 Ring and Pinion gears. The service buliton shows them on a G1000. Have used then for years on all kinds of tractors. The weakest point on them is the caster wheels. Had half of them broke off where they swivel. The largest and heaviest Deutz DX160A.

We have several different sets at work. We still have a customer with MM tractors and we split all the other brands except Olivers. Send me an e-mail addres and we can get you some pictures and dimensions. J.

I use the same splitting stands as what works on a John Deere(I have factory Deere stands here at home). They bolt to the frame rail but then I just use a jack between the cross beam to the oil pan.

I hope to get mine done sometime so I can put a clutch in my G950 and M5. Not a
problem on the credit thing. We are all in this together to help others, that is the
main thing. Yes, the cost, I would gladly give that for some of those stands lol.
Seasons Greetings to you too.

I think I have a pretty good plan together of how I want to build them.

I have to have something that bolts to the bottom of the oil pan, because I don't trust the frame rails, an I've had to loosen the frame rail mounting bolts and wedge them away from the bell housing before to get the tractor to "roll apart".

I will attempt to post pictures when i get something built.

Yes please do post pictures and info when you get them done and get to use it. Then
I will know what to do on my G950 ;)

If you can email me some pictures of the splitting stands as well I would appreciate it. My email is moline at woodstocktel dot net Thank you.
