What's the difference in a 403 & 336? Stroke? Thanks!

403 4 5/8 x 6" stroke. 336 4 5/8 x 5" stroke.

I am sure there are exceptions, but, generally the 336 is likely a later or newer engine. 403 not used in a tractor after the GB. Not sure how long it was available as a power unit.

Really should ad, the 403 was based on the U style crankcase, and 336 engine is the newer crankcase design. Governor is different, and the oil filter is located in the pan. Also, they use a 3 bolt starter instead of a jam bolt.
