Replacing clutch cross shaft on a ZAU

Can a person change the clutch cross shaft through the access hole on the left side on a ZAU without splitting the tractor? I have a keyway that is wore on it (outside where clutch rod connects to) and it makes the tractor jumpy and is dangerous to operate.

Should be able to push shaft right out. Thinking there maybe 2 keys. Long as you can get you arms in hand hole. Done some U gas and U diesels, very hard on forearms. Usually scrapes them good! Changed a few brass throughout collars on Massey 95-97 also.

I know you can on a ZT, But the ZA I don't think you can get your hand through the inspection
hole. The hard part will be placing the woodruff key in the clutch shaft. and tighten it.

I have done it on a ZT. Replaced the throw out collar. But then I was just a kid then, hands were smaller. Access hole a little different on ZA. If key wants to fall out on assembly, take a center punch and put some punch marks on the lower side of the key to hold in place. If can't then get key in slot with hammer, use a vise grip to force key in place. Always set the leading edge a hair lower to get started in the keyway in the fork.
