Got a chance at a model "R" Avery. It appears to be in great shape, no smoke, painted. What's the limit for these. Ive only seen two. A lot of "A"s seem to be around.

Obviously I can't speak to the specifics of your potential tractor but in general they are very good tractors. No real weak points that I'm aware of. I have the identical moline version (BF) and frankly it is suprisingly powerful. Opinions vary on their collectability but the interest friends and strangers show and the volume of questions I'm asked is unbelievably high.

Here's my MM BF

Actually, the only major difference between an Avery R and a BF moline is the hydraulics. The Avery uses a unit type box inside the right frame rail. The hydraulic pump is a small aluminum unit that mounts in the right side of the front cover of the engine.

A BF M-M has the typical MM hydraulic reservoir under the fuel tank and uses a larger Eaton hydraulic pump that mounts in the same right side location in the front cover of the engine.

Around here in NC, a lot of Avery Rs were re-painted MM gold and decaled for MM. And it is not impossible to find units that have an Avery R serial number and been updated with MM hydraulics.
