UTU Gaskets?

Hey guys, I'm in the process of restoring my great grandad's '47 UTU And just pulled the heads off for an engine rebuild, but I can't seem to find a gasket set for this engine anywhere? The engine tag says it's a 283A4 and the tractor SN dates to 1947. Anyway I would really appreciate any advice on where to look. Thanks!

[/img] okay well I'm not even positive this is the original engine to be honest with you lol this one has two heads with h-c cast into them. The engine serial tag says that it is 4 1/4x5 4cyl model 283A4 serial number 640851A. I'm not totally positive that it's a 1947 model. The serial number reads 3340820. I looked it up on tractordata and that puts it between '47 and'48 but I'm not for sure. This is my first moline to restore, I've mainly worked on Allis Chalmers Before, so every day is a new learning process haha.

Molinegb is incorrect. I believe 47 was the first year for split block (2 head) engines. Napa can get a fel pro set. It will be two sets, a head set and conversion set (lower end).

Awesome thank you! I thought about checking into my local NAPA first but wasn't sure if they could get something like that. I appreciate it!

Also if they can't you can go to www.stammtractors.com clint or kelly will have a complete valve grind set
or a complete overhaul set as well. I got a complete set for an MM 206 off them. There are others as well
out there too.

My dad's 47 is solid block and mag as well as several other of my 47 models. 1948 were all
twin block and distributor.

the engine is the 851st 283A4 made for the UTU starting in 1947. The tractor serial 4number has 1 too many digits, otherwise its a 47 also

I just went out an re-checked the tractor serial number and you're right it reads 334082U. I really appreciate the information thank you!
