445 Emblems

Have a late model 1957 and it has chrome emblems. 445 diesel is a 1958. Maybe universals had emblems and utility had decals.

I am not sure just when it was but it is in the 1958ish era. I think it was the same company that stamped the grill medallion in the front for all the connie series.

If it has the original side panels, if it has holes in it, it probably had chrome emblems if not decals.

Checked last night, It has holes for 445 and decals for MM on sides. What happened? MM run
out of suppliers of chrome ones?

I think the 445 I have has holes in the hood panels yet but has decals. Im guessing the holes didnt hurt anything so they just left them as they were and went over the tops of them. I will have to look again tomorrow.

Talked to MM dealer and he thinks same. All 445's had holes for emblems. If you were restoring would you use decals if chrome was available? Did chrome emblems all have red background. Any I have seen were all chrome.

I'm not sure that is true about hole indicating that there were emblems. I have some 335's that are original (at least 2 that I am sure of) that have holes where both the 335 and Minneapolis Moline go & I have never seen a 335 emblem. Has anyone else?

As far as I know the background on the metal emblems were red with the silver or chrome metal on the letters. Im guessing heat from the engine kind of bakes off the paint after years of use. I thought the Mohr family made decals that were patterned after the metal emblems, since most of the time they arent available.

My dad ordered a new 445 Universal 445 in July of 1957, i know we had it for silage cutting season, [Sept 1st] and that had emblems.

Checked hood sides closer and they have no holes. Appears decals are same as M5 and are higher up on hood sides.
