mm445, power steering

I'm back! My 445 does not have power steering. But the front
end has the casting for the pw steering cyl. I has factory looking plugs in each end like big freezeplugs). From the IT manual I know
some units had a pw steering pump and some, tele-flow units
got hyd pressure from the tractor hyd unit. I have what looks like
the worm shaft housing that attaches to the steering shaft via a
u-joint. I have no pw steering lines or hoses. The book also says to remove the hyd unit from tractor I have to remove the hyd pressure line to the pw steering system. My tractor does not have this line, nor do i know where it would attach. By the way mine is a 445 utility. The hyd pump appears to have the PS
system damper and control valves attached to it. Trying to figure out if my tractor origiannaly had PS or not and if so what will i need to put it back. Thanks

My guess is that it did not have PS. There would be no reason to remove PS, even if it didn't function. As far as what it would take to put PS on the tractor, best to get a parts book and then watch e-bay for the parts you need. Your steering cylinder probably doesn't have a piston or the cylinder sleeves. Then there's the steering control valve assembly that is integral with the worm shaft, lots of stuff.

Thanks, was hoping.

My suggestion would be to find a parts tractor with the power steering, then sell the rest.

I also know why you are wanting power steering. I have a Big Mo 400 without power steering and it takes a lot more effort to turn the steering wheel than an R or Z.
