I knew at one time but don't right now. I think they only made them for a year or 2 and then they became Supers. A PO tried to make this one a Super, adding the flat top fenders and hogging a hole in the dash for a tachometer, adding the tach drive to the side of the engine cover. One feature that they didn't add and I wish that they would have would be the longer reach TA lever. I resisted placing any other decals on it that the Super had.

The reason I was wondering about it being a 1964 was no white band. I think they were made like this for 6 or 8 months and then the white band was added and then like you said they became the Super models.

Retired a 64 and it had clams and low band. Saw another 64 last week and it was #12 and it also had clams and low band like all non supers. They both had Wheatland front axles also. My theory is ALL 64 had clams left from older 445's etc. In 65 when 670's arrived the same flat top style of fenders appeared. Also were used on Fords, so fenders were farmed out.

As per MM, anything was possible!

According to the parts book either style fender was available for the Supers. We had a Jet 3 Super with Clam Shell fenders. The online parts book for Jet Star 3 doesn't show the band, there must be a supplement that's not online. My Jet 3 doesn't have a band now but looks like it did at one time.

The white band was added at a specific serial number break. I think it was late 1964 if I remember correctly.
