zb mm hydraulics

I'm watching a zb on an auction site and the previous owner stripped it of it's hydraulic pump and hoses and so forth. How hard would it be to find another one and how expensive would it be to put on?? Thanks in advance

As Roger H says, it should be no real problem. System is the same as a ZA and there are lots of them around. Only difference is that the control handle mounts by the steering wheel on a ZB. It mounts on the rockshaft on the ZA. If you can't find a ZB it would be simple to make the mount.

Just to add, all the basic components are the same, pump and reservoir, the lines going
from the tank back to the rear of the tractor are different. If you are just planning
on using it I think you could get something figured out on it to work. If you are
restoring it you might be able to find some other lines or possibly rework a ZA set.

I rebuilt a ZB that was in a fire in the '60s. (Consecutive serial number with my Dad's) The hardest part to come by was the steel lines to the rear of the tractor. The front manifold block that bolts on the reservoir is the same as on a ZA. The ZA pump and hose and manifold pipe back to the reservior will work too.

The rear manifold block that the hydraulic hoses screw into is different between a ZA and a ZB. As I remember it now, the fittings are farther apart on the ZB block and you can't get both lines into the ZA block after they go under the rock shaft that is bolted at the top of the transmission.

I ended up cutting the steel lines out of the original ZB block and sliver soldered a new set that were bent to match the rusted out original hydraulic lines into it. I got the 1/2" O.D. steel tubing from McMaster Carr. I remember that one of the lines used all of the six-foot piece of tubing. I would think a good machine shop could make you a manifold block if you could not find one.

One other thing: If you are planning to use this after its done, you will need either a MM hydraulic cylinder of a check valve in the lines between the cylinder and the reservoir. Otherwise the cylinder will drop its load when the control handle is released.

I have a couple hyd. pumps and 2 or 3 tanks, and I think I have a set of steel lines that go to the back. I bought a ZB a while back and these extra parts came with it. I live in south central Kansas if it's not too far.
